What it’s like to be an undocumented student in 2017

Recently, I sat down with Matias, a physics student at the University of Florida with the hopes and dreams of becoming an educator and sustainability entrepreneur. As a DACA recipient, Matias is one of the 11% of South American immigrants with the eligibility to attend higher education. Under the current political anti-immigratory environment, Matias faces the fear of losing his ability to continue his studies in the United States. This would mean forcefully having to go back to Argentina, a country he hasn’t seen since he was 6 years old.
